Sometimes all it takes is a simple switch from being a glass half empty kind of person to a glass half full personality. Which one are you now? You can do several things to start looking at life in a whole new way.
First, buy a gratitude journal. They have some amazing ones that include inspirational messages or quotes on each page to give you a springboard for your thoughts. Write down things you are grateful for at the end of each day so that you get a good night’s rest and wake up feeling serene.
If you prefer, keep your gratitude journal with you at all times and keep track of the little things you feel grateful for. It can be something as simple as, “a young man gave up his seat on the bus for me when I was feeling tired.”
Or, it can be something big like, “my boss told me he was so impressed with my performance that he’s giving me a 10% raise!”
Work on finding gratitude out of negative situations, too. It’s hard, but this is the first step in helping you turn your life around and make it one of wonder and amazement rather than disappointment and frustration.
For example, if your girlfriend breaks up with you, write down something positive about it, such as, “Chelsea broke up with me when I wasn’t ready to end the relationship yet, but I am grateful that she didn’t draw it out longer and that I’m now free to find the one true love of my life.”
One thing you should do with your gratitude journal that not many people remember to do is reread it from time to time. Make a special time, like on Sundays, when you review the previous week and remind yourself of all of the things you have to be grateful about.
Positive affirmations are another method you can use to create a good mentality. Positive affirmations can be used not only for Stress Relief, but also for building self esteem . Each person will have different ones, but you basically make them your mantra for living life!
You can say them in front of a mirror, whisper them to yourself whenever you need a boost throughout the day, or mentally recite them as you lay in bed waiting to fall asleep.
The key is to engage in some sort of positive talk with yourself each and every day.
With positive affirmations, you’re making statements, such as:
• I nourish my body with the right kinds of foods.
• I deserve prosperity in my career.
• I give love in a healthy relationship and receive it from those closest to me in my life.
• I believe in myself and my abilities to achieve my goals.
• I am at peace tonight.
• I choose to live my life freely, without restraints so that I can enjoy all that life has to offer.
Visualization is yet another method you can employ to achieve happiness. Visualization is when you picture life the way you want it to appear as if it has already happened. But you try to do more than just a 2D image in your mind.
For instance, if riding along the coastline in a convertible would relax or inspire you, then you would imagine that scenario as if you’re looking out of your eyes, not looking at yourself.
Imagine the wind in your hair, the scent of the ocean breeze coming off the sea. Focus on vibrant colors and even how the steering wheel feels in the palm of your hands.

This book is incredible, I have read many books on healing and this book is so simple and easy to understand.
David has a fantastic writing style and explains things in a way that is really easy to understand, he uses examples that makes for easy understanding and reading. Buy it and read it for yourself, it is outstanding.

I read this book towards the end of 2004, when after a year of debilitating back pain caused by a herniated disk, I was readying myself for the final option : surgery.
All that year, the pain had gone from bad to worse. I was not able to bend forward or sit. I was going through life standing. I stopped driving, going to the movies, theater, restaurant.
If I needed to lift a pan while cooking, I had to call my husband. Life, for me had ended. The doc said surgery is the only option after months of physiotherapy and steroid shots in the back.
I remembered this book that a friend had mentioned 6 months into my pain. I had looked at the cover and given it up as "kooky". Well, what the heck.
If you're going to surgery, you'll do anything. So I bought the book and read it. It's hard to believe, but my pain started to diminish from the very next day.
As Dr Sarno's book made more and more sense, the pain became lesser and lesser. Slowly, I started sitting, started yoga, and within 6 weeks, I was completely and utterly pain-free!!
Why am I writing this review now in 2010? Since then, I have recommended this book to at least a dozen other people.
I always end up sending a link from amazon. And as I was sending this link to yet another fellow sufferer, I decided to share my experience with the bigger community.
I am happy to report that 5 years later, I am still completely and utterly pain free. My disk still impinges (I had an MRI done after the pain was gone), but I feel no pain. Dr Sarno's book saved my life.
He has a knack of explaining things so well, and so logically, that I was able to internalize his concept and get my health back. If you have a herniated disk, you owe it to yourself to read this book.

Depression is an awful disease but it is treatable and manageable. There isn't one universal cure for it that will work for everyone but there are a number of treatment options.
One such option that has shown to be very effective is hypnosis.
When you suffer from depression you often feel tired and lack energy, you have no motivation to do things and sometimes you just don't see a point in doing things. You lose all ambition and find yourself stuck in a very deep rut.
When we don't feel like doing things it can lead to a spiralling problem where we don't feel like doing things so we don't do them and the more we don't do things the less we feel like doing them and it becomes a real vicious circle. The more and more this goes on the more depressed we become.

They actually aren't too far off the mark with this theory.
Hypnosis does exactly that - makes your mind believe in something enough that you will then make it happen. The results of this change in thinking can be dramatic and often all that is needed to treat a disorder like depression is a big change in the way that you think.
You will likely need more than one hypnosis session when treating depression but when you give it enough time you will start seeing results.
When you enter into this psychological state you can deal with many ailments and issues that you have and depression is just one of the many conditions that can be treated with hypnosis.
You need to be patient when using self hypnosis and you will need to guide yourself into this relaxing, blissful, psychological state of calmness. Your mind can finally relax itself and stop thinking negatively and about stressful situations that you face each day.
If you suffer depression or any other mental illness then give self hypnosis a go and you will see some improvements in your depression. Hypnosis might not cure your depression but it will certainly help treat the symptoms and manage your depression.

I have tried many guided meditation CDs in the past for relaxing and de-stressing. This is definitely one of the best. The music is so soothing and pleasurable that even by itself would be very effective as a relaxation tape.
Add to that the narration which is gently reassuring and leads you to a very calm place. I like all of the tracks, but especially the "Total Body" selection which works great as a bedtime prep for a good night's sleep. Overall a great CD.

I first read Kathy's book, Quantum Wellness, and was very moved by all that Kathy has to say and how kindly and non-judgementally she expresses herself and the ideas in her book.
She urges people to live a more happy and healthy life, through living, thinking, and eating consciously. It wasn't until this book came into my life, that I really decided to do the 21 Day Cleanse. I have never done anything better for myself and I thank Kathy so much for this.
The "cleanse" is not really a cleanse in the way that celebrities and news people are talking about today. I view it more as a meal plan, which takes the stigma out of cleansing or dieting, as it really is what her cleanse is about. Once I got over the initial, "What on earth will I do without caffeine, animal products, and sugar?!"
I went to the grocery store and stocked up on everything that Kathy suggests. There was SO much that I could eat, and I didn't even get everything the first-go round. (I highly recommend having all of the foods on hand so that you don't want to fall back to old habits....this makes doing the cleanse super easy!)
I have never slept better in my life, and wake up with so much energy and ready to take on the world. No caffeine necessary. (after the first few days or so....) My skin looks so much better (I keep getting so many compliments on how I am glowing) and I feel amazing. Not to mention the fact that I have already lost 4 pounds and all of my clothes fit better. I look and feel great; mind, body, and spirit.

Dan Millman is definetly one of my favorite authors and speakers. Ever since I read his book, Way of the Peaceful Warrior, almost 15 years ago, I have gravitated towards his work.
I even translated one of his books, The Laws of Spirit, from English to Icelandic a few years back. My review might therefore be tainted with my admiration : )
Body Mind Mastery is a great book for athletes and Millmans approach is balanced and invigorating. He challenges the athletes training routines and mindset with a perfect blend of information and practical guidlines.
Many coaches in Iceland have used this book with good outcomes as a result of my recommending it to them.
It has even come in handy for people I know that are not professional athletes. The philosophy expounded on can be used in varied situations in life.

Motivation to Lose Weight and Become More Active
Like anything else that you do, losing weight requires motivation. You cannot simply say that you want to lose weight and expect it to just happen. You have to decide why it is you want to lose weight and use those reasons to motivate yourself.
Begin by setting a reasonable goal. You did not gain the weight overnight, so don't expect to lose it that fast. It will take time.
You must be patient and find ways to keep yourself motivated. Decide how much weight you want to lose and set a series of small goals along the way to your ultimate goal.
Set up an exercise routine. Find a time that works well for you, when you can exercise without being interrupted. If possible, it is helpful to do your routine at the same time everyday.
Motivate yourself to get started by thinking about how great you will feel when you have lost the weight. Exercise can be a great motivator. It leaves you feeling energized and awake, making you feel like you can do anything.
Find a good diet plan that works well for you. Cut out excess fatty foods, opting for lean meats, and plenty of vegetables.
When you change your eating habits, you will find that it makes you feel better. As you begin losing those unwanted pounds, you will feel even more motivated to keep on going.
Even as you start looking and feeling better as you lose weight, you may still have times when you feel discouraged. You may feel like you miss some of your old eating habits.
Take a step back and remind yourself of your goal and your reasons for wanting to lose weight. It may not always be easy, but in the end, it will be worth it.
