Self Motivation Guide
How to Motivate Yourself And Stay Motivated
Sometimes even after you have decided what your objective is, it can be difficult to stay motivated. You need to do things that will help keep the excitement going. Look at the long-term benefits of what you are trying to accomplish. Think about how good you will feel when your goal has been met.
Sometimes it helps to see what you are working towards. Many people keep inspiration bulletin boards or journals. Find pictures that represent what you are trying to achieve.
Place them on your inspiration board or anywhere else that you will see often. Put pictures in a journal and write about why you want to accomplish this goal.
Make a plan, and put it in writing. Write down the name of your goal and then list all of the steps necessary to reaching your objective. Refer to your list often to help yourself stay on task.
Sometimes putting things in writing makes it easier to accomplish. As you complete each step, check it off. Having this visual reminder of how you are doing can help to keep you motivated to continue.
Reward yourself as you complete each step of your goal. Anything that makes you feel good, such as treating yourself to a bubble bath, a movie, a walk in the park, etc., can help to keep you feeling the motivation needed to reach your goal.
Stay away from negative people who try to discourage you from reaching your goal. Anyone who tells you that you will only fail anyway, is not a friend.
Keep inspirational people and things around you. Look for a mentor. Someone who has already done what you are trying to achieve can be a great source of information and motivation.
Sometimes, when you are having trouble feeling motivated, the answer can be as simple as just jumping in and doing it!
Quite often, if you just start, you will find yourself feeling inspired to keep going.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Witty pageturner"
By Jennifer Hyman "Shigley fan" (New York, NY)
ack)
Go-Getter girls is a refreshing guide to getting ahead in all aspects of a woman's life. Shigley's guide is far from fluff - instead she gives stories from real women who have been there, done that and more importantly, she gives her own take - which is sassy, pointed and has real guts.
This is a smart girl's guide to looking, feeling and working better. I have already suggested it to every woman I know and am using Debra's tips in my own life.

Customer Review:
5.0 out of 5 stars "Letting Go Through Self-Coaching"
By Kevin NY (NY)
A recent review of this book prompted me to add my two cents. I have read Dr. Luciani's book and feel that his techniques are truly unique and unlike any other self-help book I have read.
I would definitely say that Dr. Luciani's approach is cognitive (more similar to Dr. Ahraham Low's seminal work than other CBT authors), however, I have no problem agreeing with the author when he says his insights were more intuitive, growing from his twenty-five years of work with his patients.
Dr. Luciani's most significant contribution is his central, orienting thesis of control. From developmental roots of insecurity, there is an impetus to compensate through various controlling strategies (which, overtime become habits such as, worry, perfectionism, etc.).
To me, this is truly a novel way of viewing struggle. Using this concept (along with the Self-Talk technique in the book), I have been able to dismantle a lifelong inclination toward worry, rumination, and anxiety.
Trying to control life made it impossible for me to trust life or myself...until now!
How to Stop Procrastinating And Be More Productive
Motivation is the answer to procrastination!
At some point in time, we have all put off doing something. When you procrastinate on occasion, it can give you a much needed break.
But when it becomes a habit, it can cause real problems. You end up working harder, making you prone to stress and burn-out.
Procrastinating is like chaining a bowling ball to your ankle. It follows you everywhere you go and until you complete the job at hand, you don't feel any peace. The longer you wait, the worse it gets.
There are things you can do to help you become more productive and stop procrastinating. Getting and keeping yourself organized will help you to get things done. Set deadlines to complete your tasks and write them on the calendar.
If you have a visual reminder of your time limit, it will be easier to complete your tasks before the last minute, saving you allot of stress. Having less stress makes you happier and better able to cope.
Dividing your tasks into separate categories can be very helpful. Have a space for your 'priority' jobs, those needing your immediate attention, and a space for those jobs that can wait.
Don't have your 'can wait' jobs mixed with your 'priority' jobs because they will take your attention away from those things you need to be doing first. It can also be helpful to attach brightly colored Post-Its to your jobs as an added reminder.
However you choose to organize your work, actually getting it done on time depends on you. You must be willing to stop procrastinating, and just do it.
When you don't allow yourself to fall behind, you will be happier and stress-free because you have accomplished something.

"Better Yourself through applying this book to your life!"
Dan E. Ross "Dan Ross" (Frisco, Tx USA)
100 Ways to Motivate Yourself is definitely one of the better self-help / leadership books I have read. The one part of this book that is quite unique is that Chandler often starts with a quote, then he presents an typical example and finally tells a brief short story.
I find this to be quite refreshing in these types of books as Chandler covered a wide array of topics from taking action, looking at things from a different angle, using your imagination, setting goals, turning off your TV, relationships, etc.
I believe the key ingredient in getting long-term value out of this book is to highlight the quotes/stories you love and integrate them into your daily life.
Practice what you read if it ties in with your values. Hope this helps everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Motivational tool"
By Sylvia C. Hoke "Sylvia literacy coach" (Destin, Florida)
This DVD is an excellent resource and companion piece to the book by the same name. It would serve as a wonderful professional development study for any school's faculty to motivate teachers to keep students' interests in mind when designing a lesson.
Energize Other People And Increase Motivation
Motivating others can be difficult, but it is not impossible. With some people, it may also require a great deal of patience. To get others motivated, you must first be motivated yourself.
You must be excited about what you are trying to get them to do, and then share that excitement with them.
If you feel genuinely passionate about something, people will see it and it will be easier to get them motivated. Sometimes, it may be necessary to offer some kind of incentive. It doesn't necessarily need to be something big, just something that people will be excited about.
It is also very important that people know they have your support and trust. If they know that you believe in them and their ability, that can help them to feel more motivated.
Don't just assume that they know you are confident in their abilities, tell them. This will make them feel good about themselves and help them to feel more motivated.
Whether you are with a large company or a small group, let people know that they are part of a team. Stressing teamwork and the importance of everyone's individual role can help to motivate people.
If they know that their part is important to the end result they will feel more motivated to do their part.
Also, be sure that people know what it is that you expect of them. If people are unsure what their part is, they will feel frustrated and won't be motivated.
Many people want to know, 'What's in it for me?' When trying to motivate others, tell them what the benefits are. It is easier for people to be excited and motivated to do something if they don't feel their time is being wasted.
They also need to feel appreciated. Everyone needs an occasional 'pat on the back'. It can really help to keep people motivated.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Loved this c.d."
By P. Johnson (Saint Paul)
This has helped me a great deal. I had to give a talk recently and was nervous about doing so. I listened to this c.d. for a week before I had to give my talk and ended up enjoying it instead of dreading it as I usually do. I personally found his voice very soothing.

I'm suffering from mild depression and I expected this book to be helpful for depressants to change ways of thinking and behaving but... It didn't help my depression a lot but it became a big help in my relationships.
